ALIAS MAYA USED IN 'EPISODE III'

ALIAS MAYA USED IN 'EPISODE III'
Posted by Hello
- Alias' Maya software was the chief 3D animation technology and only non-proprietary animation solution used to create key characters and scenes in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith." Throughout the film's production, Maya acted as Industrial Light & Magic's main animation and pre-visualization software, allowing the company's animators to create the memorable performances of digital characters such as Yoda and the villainous commander of the droid army, General Grievous. In addition, key scenes as the film's opening, which contains a fast-paced space battle and acrobatics of an animated Obi-Wan Kenobi, were also ......................Read More Inside !!!!

3ds Max plays a major role In creation of award-winning game 'Jade Empire'

3ds Max plays a major role In creation of award-winning game 'Jade Empire'
Posted by Hello
- Ask the folks at leading game development studio BioWare Corp. why Autodesk® 3ds Max® software is their primary 3D art creation tool, and they’ll tell you it has to do primarily with one important benefit: productivity. With one install, 3ds Max allows us to do almost anything we require to create our games,” says Tobyn Manthorpe, BioWare art director. “We firmly believe our artists work much more productively when they don’t have to keep changing development environments. 3ds Max works incredibly well across the board, in modeling, mapping, skinning, animation, and lighting. It’s important to us to have access to all these excellent systems in one package.”But the productivity benefits don’t stop there; the BioWare team also uses 3ds Max to interface with many of their proprietary tools, and even with their final game engine on another computer. Plus, they rely on the software to perform analysis of their resources, provide reports, and verify data. “At BioWare, 3ds Max is not just about creating art,” Manthorpe states. “It’s about all the responsibilities.........................Read Full story!!!!

21 brushes for painting animal-themed textures
- Dave Nagel this week includes 21 brushes designed to produce textures evoking the surface details of animals and, in some cases, human beings. Specifically, this collection includes seven skin brushes, ranging from smooth (but detailed) surfaces to rough and patchy skin; five brushes for creating scales; four brushes for creating feathery elements, from bunches of feathers to the individual elements that make up feathers; three brushes for making "fluffy" textures; and two brushes for creating fuzz or fur. These brushes can be used for texture mapping 3D objects or for creating abstract backgrounds with animal themes.
All of the brushes here are fully dynamic, including shape, scattering, color, texture and opacity dynamics. Of course, these dynamics can be modified and saved to suit your needs. (If you would like to modify a brush and save the modifications to a new preset, you can do this by opening the Brushes palette, then choosing "New Brush Preset" from the flyaway menu on the top right of the palette........................................

Xen Wildman Reviews Turtle from Illuminate Labs ***

Rendering solution for users of Maya is a fast, viable alternative to existing products
Posted by Hello
- There was a great cry throughout CG for a better and more integrated renderer for the 'Maya' 3d package. Few heeded the call and many failed along the way. These days everyone and their grandma seems to be developing a plugin renderer. Of course there are few that stand a head above the others in any particular category. Many of them I would consider to be further away from the “production ready” status you would give to a trusted tool. The name ‘Turtle’ would suggest something slow, relating to the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. Actually, when rendering G.I. and Final Gather, its pretty damn fast!!! The IL logo, being a rabbit, makes sure we get our daily dose of irony. Put that in your pipe and......Illuminate Labs have done an amazing job of integrating Turtle into the Maya rendering pipeline. Pushing it to the stage that you can most often apply shaders and lights as you would for normally, click the.....................Read On!!!!

ADVANCED PARTICLES SYSTEM (GLU3D) **

Particles (GLU3D) Tutorial by Antonio Casado
Posted by Hello
- EverMotion Has posted a new tutorial on Advance Particles system. In this tutorial we learn to setup diverse types of particles systems, attach it to Glu3D and deflectors, also a special link of geometry. All this, in a nice scene of a dancing teapot that get dirt!. The particularity of Glu3D its the ability of use liquid simulations with external particles using his PWrapper plugin. This mean that we don´t use the internal calcules of Glu3D, but the "geometry creator" with standard particles systems. The results of this mix it´s really interesting and in some cases perfectly valid replacing the real liquids simulation created by Glu3D. Nevertheless, for precise and real liquids simulations it´s better to use Glu3D...................................Link !!!!

Outstanding 3D animation showcased at 2nd 24FPS
Posted by Hello
- The kind of animated shorts showcased at the 2nd 24FPS students animation awards clearly indicate that a bright future awaits the Indian animation industry.Organised by Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics, the 2nd 24FPS students animation awards held recently in Mumbai were a great sight to see for all those optimistic about Indian animation. Some of the short films screened were outstanding not only in terms of the modeling, 3D animation and camera work but also in concept and direction. The 'students only' competition was open to entries from all operating animation and gaming institutes. Particpants had to make animated public service messages around themes like Family Planning, Adult Literacy, Anti Smoking, Environmental Pollution and Anti Corruption. A total of 29 teams comprising of 3-5 members each participated in the competition. Most of the teams were from amongst the 35 MAAC centres across the country.
It is very rare for students in India to get an opportunity to work from concept to screen along with deadlines. An additional advantage with 24FPS was that the students not only got the experience but also got to showcase their work in front of an audience comprising of studio heads and CEOs. To top it all, the icing on the cake was the cash prize bounty of Rs 2.25 lacs offered by MAAC and other prizes being offered by sponsors like Seagate.
