+ Kyra was produced with the collaboration of top acting talent, technicians, and artists from the Montreal scene, using the latest developments and techniques in the industry, from award winning software, to optical motion capture, facial expressions techniques, and hair, fur, and cloth simulation. The goal was nothing less than to bring a realistic virtual character to life in a real performance with a gamut of emotions.
Jean Lafleur, with a long career as writer and director in "conventional cinema", became fascinated by the limitless possibilities of this new medium after seeing Final Fantasy, the Spirits Within. As his first venture, he decided to make a short film, but one that would tackle the last digital medium challenge: creating a believable virtual character.
