Design Book Magazine's T-shirt design competition


+ Design Book Magazine has announced Call for Entries for its T-shirt design competition. The winning design will be become our official shirt for the 2008 season. Winning designer's bio and work will be shown in the Summer issue along with a link to his or her website. The T-shirt design must feature the Design Book Magazine Logo. (click here to download). Color Designs are acceptable only if accompanied by a monochromatic version. Design must fit on the front, side, or back of a standard cotton T-shirt. Designs must be submitted in EPS format.
Entries will be judged on creativity and originality. There is no entry fee or limit to the number of entries per designer. All designs must be original. Submit your entry by June 20th, 2008 via e-mail to

SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 New Horizons: Call for Participation


+ SIGGRAPH Asia, the 1 st ACM SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia seeks participation from digital innovators, researchers, producers, artists, and engineers to be part of the inaugural SIGGRAPH Asia as contributors, presenters or volunteers for its programmes.

Technical Papers
The SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Technical Papers programme will continue the tradition of excellence in computer graphics and interactive techniques that SIGGRAPH is known for and extend this world-class experience to Asia. SIGGRAPH Asia invites submission of high-quality papers that will set the standard in the field and stimulate future trends. Accepted papers will be presented at SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 and published as a special issue of ACM Transactions on Graphics. The deadline for submission to the SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Technical Papers is 28 May 2008.
Sketches and Posters
This programme covers a broad spectrum of topics including digital art, design, science, and engineering. It encompasses ideas ranging from speculation to academic research, from industrial development and practical tools to behind-the-scenes explanations of commercial and artistic work. Whether one is toying with fuzzy what-if ideas, developing new techniques, or using existing ones in novel ways, SIGGRAPH Asia wants to hear from them! SIGGRAPH Asia encourages them to be a part of this exciting exchange of ideas and techniques by being a pioneer and contribute their ideas to the first SIGGRAPH Asia! The deadline for submission to the SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Sketches & Posters is 12 July 2008.
Courses
The Courses programme welcomes submissions that cover state-of-the-art techniques in computer graphics and interactive interfaces including (but not limited to) animation, computer-human interactivity, post-production, entertainment, gaming, rendering, scientific visualisation, virtual reality, and programming hackery. SIGGRAPH Asia also welcomes reports on recent industrial advances and tutorials on skills and techniques for artists. The deadline for submission to the SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Courses programme is 19 May 2008.
Art Gallery
The Art Gallery welcomes submissions of printed, interactive, networked, digital art in 2D, 3D, and 4D, especially works that deal with transformations, fusions, intersections, and paradigm shifts from Asia. The show will facilitate an encounter with, and exchange between, different fields to showcase "hybrid" works such as space art in zero gravity, text-literature visualisation, and ubiquitous sounds. The deadline for submission to the SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Art Gallery is 20 June 2008.
Computer Animation Festival
The Computer Animation Festival includes two main components: The official competition programme features a juried selection of "the best of the best" amazing works that provide insight on current international trends in computer-generated animation. Further to this a special curated programme will showcase remarkable films, from classics to experimental explorations of the latest technologies. This special programme of short subjects and features presents an intriguing collection of world-
renowned animated works. Professionals, artists, filmmakers, and researchers from throughout the world are invited to participate. The deadline for submission to the SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Computer Animation Festival is 20 June 2008.
Educators Programme
The aim of the Educators Programme is to create an environment that supports innovation in the instruction of computer graphics and digital art. Support the evolving integration of art and technology as embraced by educators of all levels from early learning through higher education and industry in all sub-disciplines of the field. Share ideas concerning educational strategies as adopted in both industry and academia and help make learning a more satisfying, productive, and meaningful process. The deadline for submission to the SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Educators Programme is 6 June 2008.
Emerging Technologies
This programme seeks creative and innovative projects in the fields of virtual and mixed reality, haptic interfaces, ubiquitous systems, digital tools, HD displays, robotics, and any other applications of new, exciting, and amazing technologies. SAPPI IDEAS THAT MATTER : Call For Entries



+ Call for Entries has been announced for SAPPI - "Ideas that Matter," is an initiative by Sappi - the world's leading producer of coated fine paper. This annual campaign encourages creative marketing and advertising professionals from Europe, North America and South Africa to create printed communication campaigns and designs around important social or environmental issues. Individual Graphics designers, design agencies, in-house design departments and individuals or groups of design students are all eligible to apply. The successful applicants will be awarded a grant of up to R300,00.00 (US$20,000) for the print production and implementation of their idea. Love Your Body: 2009 Poster Contest


+ Call for entries has been announced for "Love Your Body: 2009 Poster Contest" organisied by National Organization for Women Foundation, to celebrate the Love Your Body Campaign. The Entries are open to world-wide artists and graphics designers. Deadline: Postmarked December 1, 2008. The grand prize winning poster will be used as part of a national campaign to challenge the media's use of violent, drug-addicted, starved, surgically-enhanced images of women and to fight against industries that profit from women’s dissatisfaction with their bodies.
Artists may submit multiple posters in the same category, but may not submit posters in different categories. When creating your poster, please remember that the winning poster will be reproduced and distributed and consider the cost of reproduction. You may send all your posters in one envelope. Before submitting posters to the contest, please look at past winners and familiarize yourself with the campaign. The winning poster will be distributed to schools as well as individuals, so please consider the audience when designing your poster.

HUGO Create Contest*



+ Entries has been invited from Digital artists, designers, illustrators and enthusiast for Second round of HUGO Create challenge. The winners of first round has been announced earlier this month. Participants are invited to make a design for HUGO Fragrances, inspired by and featuring the HUGO Man Bottle. The competition is conducted in 4 rounds. The top 10 designs of each round will be awarded with a cash prize of 500 US-$ (40 money prizes in total). The winning design of each round will also be published in i-D magazine. Call for Entries: ADC Young Guns 6


+ Art Directors Club has announced Call for Entries: ADC Young Guns 6, biennial competition for under-30 creative professionals. The rules are simple. You must be under the age of 30, you must have two years’ experience in a creative profession, and you must produce high-caliber visual work that will seize the jury’s attention and knock ’em dead. On April 3, ADC Young Guns 6 opens its call for entries worldwide. Fifty new Young Guns will be chosen as this year’s competition class; they will be announced in September and presented with the ADC Cube at the opening party for the gallery exhibition of their work. Selections of their work will be printed in a commemorative, limited edition volume published exclusively for the Art Directors Club by Moleskine®. The ADC Young Guns 6 class will also have their work added to the ADC’s permanent collection online and receive one-year membership in the organization. As in previous years, submissions need not conform to any specific media categories; entries may consist of one medium or as many as the contestant chooses to include. Contestants are asked to submit 6–10 pieces, up to 3 of which can be personal work, and will be judged on the basis of this body of work. Eligibility requires only that the contestant is under 30 years of age and has at least two years of professional experience (both full-time and freelance work qualify). The competition is open internationally, and past entries have come from as far as Australia, Croatia, South Africa, and Hong Kong. Call for Entries: for animated films


+ Cartoon Club, the International Festival of Animation Cinema and Comics, has announced call for Entries for animated film, in competitive and non-competitive sections. In order to participate in different sections of the Festival (the International Section, open to all directors and film-makers; the Animation Workshop Award, for the students of primary and secondary schools; and the Signor Rossi Award, for the students of high schools, universities and animation cinema schools), your movie must have been produced after January 1st, 2006. There is no entry fee, and a committee will select the films which will be admitted.
You must send a copy of your film (preferably on DVD, otherwise on good quality VHS) to the Festival headquarters (Cartoon Club - via Circonvallazione Occidentale, 58 - 47900 Rimini – Italy) together with the completed entry form, at least three stills from the film, a photograph of the film-maker and the film dialogues (if they are in a language other than Italian or English, please also include a translation in one of these two languages). Shipping costs are on the participant. The submission deadline is April 30th, 2008. The Festival will tell the participants if their films have been selected by June 15Th, 2008. ARTRMX COLOGNE - Last call for entries

Digital Show 3 - Call for Entries


+ The Successful ONLINE Exhibition of International Digital Art is Calling for Entries for May 2008 Exhibition. skopje poster competition


+ Call for Entries has been announced for skopje poster competition, and the main subject of this competition is Tolerance, a Global Challenge. The “Tolerance – A Global Challenge” project embodies a number of activities which are meant to contribute to a graduate improving of the society as a whole, giving special attention to the young population between the age of 18 and 28. Its goal is to bring the ideas together, giving the youth a chance to express their beliefs and thoughts through “Tolerance – A Global Challenge” by creating a ‘poster’. It will have a direct effect on the society by opening new horizons and giving a strong motivation for the youth to work towards a better future. This project should promote the ‘poster’ as a mean of expressing these ideas among the European youth.
Entry deadline is 15th of May, 2008. The competition is open to art and design students registered at an educational institution for art and design including disciplines such as fine arts, Graphic design, communication design, visual communication, media design and other related disciplines. There's no limit for nationality.

Call for Entries: LACDA 'TOP 40' JURIED SHOW


+ Forty Winners! Enter our "TOP 40" juried competition for digital art and photography. Entrants submit three JPEG files of original work. All styles of artwork and photography where digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images are acceptable. Open to all geographical locations. Forty selected winners receive one print up to 24x36 on museum quality paper to be shown in an international group exhibition in our gallery from April 10- May 3, 2008. The show will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artists.
Many artists from this exhibition continue their relationship with LACDA with exhibitions in solo shows or exhibitions curated outside of LACDA and digital art and photo fairs where LACDA participates. All entries are given special consideration for exhibiting at LACDA and outside exhibitions where we are featured. Artists participating in our competitions form the pool of artists from which we select the vast majority of those featured at LACDA and are often considered by our associated network of galleries and curators. Proceeds from the competition support these gallery programs. Juror Rex Bruce has curated and participated in over 50 exhibits since the founding of LACDA in 2004 and is internationally recognized as a leader and expert in the field. Registration fee is $30US and Online registration only. Multiple entries are permitted, seperate entry fee required for eachset of three images submitted.
